My First Week at Bird – Isaac Alderson
Graduating from the University of Sheffield nearly a year ago with an English Language degree, I was quickly thrown into the big wide world, kick starting me into finding the right career path.
Considering a host of options within the media sector, I chose Public Relations after a brief spell in advertising.
One of the reasons for the decision was the realisation of how quickly PR is progressing. The dynamics are constantly changing and that is something that I want to be a part of
So, two internships later and plenty of job searching and I have landed myself a job as a PR Account Executive at Bird Consultancy.
As my first week comes to a close, it is fair to say that it was a busy one!
From the get go, I have been assisting on a variety of clients that Bird represent such as NUS extra and Sports Tours International. It has been exciting work from researching for campaigns to completing press releases and blogs – there is no rest for the wicked.
My primary job at the moment has been working with Account Manager, Rebecca Sims in publicising Sports Tours International’s UK running events; Tour of Tameside and UKFast and We Love MCR 10K that are both happening this summer, as well as the UK Fast City of Salford 10k in September.
The work place is great too. Working at The Sharp Project, a hub of businesses that are specialists in digital practice is a cool place to be and has a vibrant atmosphere (the canteen is a perk as well!).
So what does the future hold for the new PR Account Executive? Well, it is going to be a busy few months for me getting up to scratch with the exciting list of clients we work with, but I’m very much looking forward it.
