06 Jul Lauren Entwistle joins Bird!
The Bird team is expanding! We’re pleased to welcome Lauren Entwistle, one of our exceedingly talented friends and colleagues from Quest Media Network, who will be swapping the journalistic pen for the world of Public Relations in the coming months… and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
Our own Ben Smithies-Casey sat down with Lauren (socially-distant, of course!) to talk about her upcoming move, how she feels about the new experience and what she’ll be expecting from her new role!
First of all, how happy are you to be joining Bird?
It’s incredibly exciting to be joining Bird!
What is your background? Tell us a bit about yourself
I am 22 years old (I’ll be 23 at the end of this month) and come from Glossop. I graduated from Leeds Trinity University in 2018 with an Honours Degree in Journalism, and have been working as a reporter and newsreader over at Quest Media Network and Tameside Radio since then… following a very brief stint working as a sales rep at a kitchen drawer factory!
In my spare time, I have also freelanced and written for a number of publications, mostly focusing on culture, music and mental health
What is your new role?
I will be working as an Account Executive with The Bird Consultancy.
What made you accept the job?
It’s a new challenge and an opportunity to learn some new skills – hopefully I’ll be able to apply what I’ve learned so far ‘on the other side’ to it, as well!
What are you expecting from the role?
I’ve been told no two days are the same – and I imagine it’s true, with lots of contact with clients old and new and the potential to make some great progress.
How was it meeting the team over Zoom this morning?
Well, it wasn’t a complete baptism of fire! There were many familiar faces anyway, as we’ve all queued for the kettle at some point in our kitchen at the offices over at Quest and Bird – but it was lovely to chat and ‘meet’ everyone after so many months in lockdown, even if it was virtually.
What are you looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to learning some new skills and thinking outside the box.
It sounds as though Lauren is well-prepared! And we can’t wait to see what she brings to the table!
