Business is booming at Bird

It’s been a very busy few weeks at Bird HQ – from a new brand launch, a new partnership deal to dressing up a famous statue… let us explain.

The weekend saw the world famous horse race, The Grand National, take place. With this, Bird was a part of two TV firsts! You may have noticed the race aired on ITV this year (for the very first time!) so ITV dressed up the good news (literally) by clothing the King Edward VII monument. Standing at 8ft tall, the statue is located outside one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings, the Royal Liver Building. The photo op featured ITV Racing presenter, Ed Chamberlain and weather girl, Lucy Verasamy, whilst the former King… turned Jockey showed off his orange and green silks in the background.

Bird managed the launch of another TV first – The Virtual Grand National. Using sophisticated 3D CGI animations and software, 40 ‘virtual’ runners and riders from the 2017 Grand National field ran over the famous Aintree course. The Virtual Race ran on ITV4 on Friday night prior to the big race itself. Bird’s social campaign saw the TV trailer gain 90k views, and the press release 70k views. The virtual winner was Cause of Causes who came second in the real race… so close!

We mentioned a new brand launch – Bird managed the media communications for a new leisure brand, Whereabouts Holidays. Offering a fresh approach to active holidays, Whereabouts is aimed at anyone looking to discover the world differently. The brand has more than 200 tours to choose from, including cycling, walking, kayaking, rock climbing and snowshoeing. We secured coverage locally and nationally, via The Manchester Evening News, The Guardian and the Sunday Mirror.Screen Shot 2017-04-18 at 14.49.38Over the last few months, Bird has been working behind the scenes to seal a very exciting deal for our client Footasylum, and last week we announced the good news! Footasylum became the official retail partner of legendary boxing manager and promoter Frank Warren. The partnership kicked off at Saturday’s (8th) boxing match at the Manchester Arena, titled ‘A New Era’. Last week, we attended two press conferences with Light Middleweights Liam Smith and long-time rival Liam Williams, and World lightweights Terry Flanagan and Russia’s Petr Petrov. Bird managed an Instore meet and greet at Footasylum’s Manchester Arndale store, with fans queuing to meet the boxers and have their picture took! We were also very privileged to meet Two-time Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams, Daniel Dubois and Footasylum’s very own Jordan Thompson who made their debuts at Saturday night’s fight too.

So, it’s safe to say business is booming and we’re very lucky to have such a great bunch of clients who make everything we do all the more exciting!
