Welcome to the Bird Blog! - 25th May 2012
It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve finally got round to doing our Bird Blog.
We’ll be bringing you a weekly round-up of what we’ve been getting up to in the Bird office and random musings from the team….
It wouldn’t be typically British of us if we didn’t start off by mentioning the one thing that’s got everyone in a good mood this week – which is of course the glorious weather! We think Manchester is a great place to be during the summer – you’re spoilt for a choice of bars and restaurants to enjoy a bit of outdoor dining at, and there’s the outdoor cinema at Spinningfields which screens some good old classics.
This weather does mean it gets very hot and stuffy in the Bird office though (no air-con, 3 floors up in an old building). We’ve had the windows and doors open, and fans galore in the office….although it may have been a bit cooler if we’d realised one of the storage heaters was still on and blasting out hot air….! Thankfully Detective Dave came to the rescue and now it is off (note to check the weather forecast in advance in case any freak freeze is on the way!).
The summer weather has inspired some of the team to get fit and do their bit for charity by taking part in Manchester’s 10k run next month. We should probably stress the word some as two of the team (who shall remain nameless, but for arguments sake let’s say that it’s Karen and Kate!) are conveniently busy and/or sick on the day of the race! Training has got off to a slow start but with only four weeks to go, we need to get a move on if we’re to have a chance of beating our personal best! There is still time to enter if you want to take part, just sign up at http://www.sportstoursinternational.co.uk/running/city-of-manchester-10k.
Anyway, after a busy week in the Bird office the weekend is almost upon us and it looks like we’re in for a sunny one too, so I’m sure a couple of beers and BBQs will be on the cards!
Just like our boss, this blog is short and sweet. Catch you next week (if he hasn’t sacked us for that remark..!)
