Bird Blog: An eventful week to end the month! - 29th June 2012

A week in the world of PR at Bird included a visit to Chester Zoo (yes it was work!) and an invitation to the opening of an all you can eat buffet restaurant…although something tells us they probably regret inviting the two members with the biggest appetites!

Despite a weakness for Pete’s delicious homemade cakes, Team Bird managed to complete the We Love Manchester 10k last Sunday. We even made it back into the office on Monday without any complaints (well maybe the complaining part isn’t entirely true!) We were pretty chuffed with our times, although we didn’t quite manage to beat the boss...but luckily Pennington’s 10k Run the Flash is only a few weeks away so watch out Chris!

In other sporting news, now that England are out of the Euros, the only excitement that remains for us is amongst those still in the Bird sweepstake. Tensions are running high…there’s a whole £16 at stake! It is disappointing to get knocked out of the tournament and on penalties again. Better luck in the 2014 World Cup fellas!

Anyway, R’ kid this weekend sees the highly anticipated reunion of Mancunian legends The Stone Roses, with their first of three gigs kicking off tonight at Heaton Park. If we’re to believe the media reports, it will be a surprise if it all runs smoothly after tensions in the band are said to be fraught! We’ll be get first-hand reports from Karen and Claire who have a couple of the golden tickets.

And it’s always great to end on a happy note…the Bird office had some exciting news this week when Kate returned from her holiday in Portugal with a ring on her finger! Congratulations Kate and Colin on your engagement….we don’t think Colin realises Kate has been building her wedding board on Pinterest since last year! We’re all thrilled for them - and it has nothing to do with the fact that it means champagne for Fine Wine Friday this afternoon!

Catch you all next week!
